KALIBO, Aklan â Aklanâs capital town has a new police chief: Superintendent Richard Mepania.
Mepania assumed the post on Monday after receiving orders from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Mepania was previously assigned at the Philippine National Police Senior Officers Placement and Promotions Division.
He was also a police contingent for a United Nations peacekeeping international mission.
Mepania expressed his willingness to work with all stakeholders to maintain peace and order in the town.
âWe are assessing the crime strategy to address domestic crimes, especially theft and physical injury incidents. Kailangan ang suporta ng lahat. Malaki ang maitutulong ng mamamayan sa pagsugpo ng krimen,â he stressed.
Last year, physical injury and theft cases topped among crime incidents in Kalibo.
But the total number of crime incidents dropped 25 percent, from 2,291 in 2016 to 1,706 in 2017.
Crime solution efficiency, meanwhile, rose to 63 percent last year from 2016âs 46 percent.
Mepania said the Kalibo police are committed to maintain peace in the community. Theyâve done this through dialogues with stakeholders, like barangay officials, he added.
Mepania replaced Senior Inspector Honey Mae Ruiz, who is now the Kalibo police station deputy chief for administration. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
