KALIBO, Aklan – To better manage and deliver easy access to healthcare services, the local government of Kalibo targets to build a modern health facility in Barangay Nalook.

Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz said the proposed health center will be funded by the Department of Health for P10 million with a counterpart fund of P5 million from the local government of Kalibo.

The health facility with modern medical equipment, primary healthcare services and trained health professionals will complement the operations of two existing rural health units in Barangay Poblacion.

Dela Cruz said they are prioritizing health investments and expanding the delivery of social healthcare for patients who can’t afford to receive treatments, medical check-ups and in-patient services.

The accessibility of healthcare facilities and services will surely help ease the burden of marginalized patients and their families in Kalibo, she added.

The new administration also envisions to build a terminal market and another health facility somewhere in Barangay Tigayon.

Aside from that, the existing Kalibo public market in Barangay Andagaw along Toting Reyes Street will be developed into a two-storey dry and wet market with parking area./PN
