KALIBO, Aklan – Two men were caught in an illegal drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion.
Romnick “Ron-Ron” Mariano, 24, of Barangay Quinasay-an, Altavas and Arjie Ramos, 35, of Barangay Old Buswang, Kalibo already surrendered to the police as part of Oplan Double Barrel last year.
“We validated their activities and closely monitored them. We found out they continued to engage in the drug trade,” said Chief Inspector Terence Paul Sta. Ana, Kalibo police chief.
Mariano and Ramos sold to an undercover officer a plastic pack of suspected shabu for P1,000 at around 1:30 p.m. on March 31 in a gasoline station at the Oyo Torong transport terminal.
Mariano, a part-time pump boy for Fil-Oil gasoline station and temporarily staying in Purok 5, C. Laserna, told the police he got his supply from Ramos.
“Kanina lang ako nagtransaksyon,” he said after his arrest. “May isang kustomer gustong kumuha ng drugs. Ibinigay lang sa akin ni Argie (Ramos) ang isang plastic ng shabu. Pumunta dito ang tao at nagbayad ng P1,000, pagkatapos may mga pulis na at dinakip ako.”
Mobile phones, government identification cards and cash were also seized from the suspects.
Mariano and Ramos were detained in the Kalibo police station lockup cell.
They are facing charges for violation of Section 5, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
