KALIBO, Aklan – The Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO) is urging Kalibo Ostrich Farm to secure operational permits.
MPDO coordinator Marlo Villanueva said the farm lacks business and zoning permits from the municipal government.
“Nag-inspection tayo at nalaman natin na kailangan itong kumuha ng permits sa kaukulang ahensiya ng gobyerno,” said Villanueva.
Villanueva noted the farm operator was also asked to apply for wildlife farm permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Department of Agriculture before it could fully operate and cater visitors.
“Kailangan maglagay sila ng signage na stop muna ang operation at kumuha ng mga permits sa mga developments at facilities ng farm,” he stressed.
He said the farm will be temporarily closed until the owner complies with the required permits.
Kalibo Ostrich Farm is a local attraction in the province with around 40 Australian and African ostriches.
The facility also houses assorted wildlife mammals and bird species that attracts local and foreign tourists. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
