KALIBO, Aklan – After completing his two-year tour of duty, the police chief of this capital town was reassigned to the National Capital Region.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Archie Gamboa ordered the reassignment of Lieutenant Colonel Richard Mepania to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) effective Feb. 27.

The outgoing police chief was supposed to report next to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office on March 1.

Approximately two weeks ago, the Sangguniang Bayan of Kalibo approved a resolution requesting the PNP organization to extend Mepania’s tenure as Kalibo’s chief of police.

Mepania reached the maximum two-year tour of duty since he was assigned to the Kalibo municipal police station on Feb. 19, 2018.

He was part of a police contingent for the United Nations peacekeeping mission and in the Police Regional Office-6 management office prior to his assignment here.

During his time in this capital town, the police official was lauded for his efforts and performances towards effective and efficient crime combating operations and solutions.

Mepania was the one who deployed Special Motorized Anti-crime Response Teams for police visibility and patrol in the 16 barangays here. He was also responsible for the re-strengthened dedication of this town’s police personnel to God through Squad Weekly Interactive Meetings, among others.

A lateral entry officer of Tagasiyasat Class of 2003, Mepania will relinquish command to his successor, Police Major Belshazzar Villanoche – outgoing chief of police of Makato town in this province. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
