AKLAN – Police officers and barangay tanods are urged to regularly conduct patrol in the barangays to help prevent crimes in Kalibo town.
Tanods are tasked to maintain peace and order in their community, promote public safety through patrolling and support the barangay officials in crime prevention.
Kalibo councilor Augusto Tolentino noted the need to strengthen the patrol strategies after theft and robbery cases were reported especially at night in the barangays.
These offenses happen in barangays where there is low police visibility, the councilor stressed.
He said the increased presence of police officers and tanods will enhance the anti-criminality campaign in the communities.
Tolentino also urged the Kalibo Municipal Police Station and its chief, Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Bontogon to maximize and deploy more policemen in crime-prone areas as part of pre-emptive strategies to prevent crime.
Last month, a resto bar on M. Laserna Street, Barangay Poblacion in Kalibo was ransacked by a theft. The suspect was arrested and charged by the police before the Aklan Provincial Prosecutor’s Office./PN
