KALIBO, Aklan – A suspected gunrunner was arrested in a police entrapment operation in this capital town.
The 40-year-old tricycle driver Nandy Aresme was caught after he allegedly sold a .45-caliber pistol loaded with seven live bullets to an undercover police officer for P20,000 around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Barangay Cogon, Lezo, Aklan resident was nabbed along Desposorio Maagma Sr. Street in Barangay Poblacion, a police report showed.
The authorities also recovered from Aresme a .38-caliber revolver loaded with five live bullets and a cellphone which contained messages about the suspect’s alleged gunrunning activity.
Aresme was detained in the Kalibo police station lockup facility.
He was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the election gun ban. (With Akean Forum/PN)
