BEAUTY Queen Katarina Rodriguez talks about being excited for her new acting projects on TV and in movies this year.
After announcing earlier this year that her pageantry days are done, Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez looks forward to diving back into showbiz with a more positive attitude. “What happened was before pageantry, I had already started yung mga acting workshops pero parang yung heart ko wala sa acting,” she said.
“I didn’t want to do it which is why I shifted to pageantry because I wanted to steer away from showbiz. But now that I’ve ended pageantry, nandito ulit ako sa acting at sa showbiz. And this time around I’m very much into it,” she said during the AHC Korean Eye Cream launch event in Makati city.
After shooting her first movie “G! LU” this month, Katarina said she is gearing up for her another exciting project. “I can’t say anything yet but I have an upcoming teleserye. It’s a really big deal. It’s something I really can’t say no to. I’m very excited. I think it’s going to challenge me in more ways than pageantry has. And I have an ongoing show that I started shooting recently with ETC. It’s a fashion-oriented show,” she said.
Even after making a name for herself as a beauty queen, Katarina said she had to go through all the steps just like any new actor in order to get roles. “For both the teleserye and the movie I had to audition. I think they kind of had people in mind kasi it’s shot in La Union and I surf so I think the director had this background on me so he wanted me to be part of the movie. Tapos sa teleserye naman I had to audition. I really didn’t know that I would get the part so nagulat ako when I got the callback. I’m happy that it happened that way,” she said. (ABS-CBN)
