MANILA – After failing in its initial try, TNT KaTropa is looking to go back to the negotiating table with GlobalPort Batang Pier in its bid to acquire Terrence Romeo.

A KaTropa official said they will try to revise their trade deal in hopes of getting the approval of a review committee formed by PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

“The pursuit for Terrence is still there,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity for being unauthorized to speak to the press. “We intend to negotiate again with GlobalPort soon in hopes of finally agreeing to a trade deal na papasa sa PBA.”

The official also disclosed that among the players to be thrown into the mix is KaTropa’s veteran guard Ryan Roose “RR” Garcia and Batang Pier’s center Yousef Taha.

GlobalPort put Romeo on the trading block as the player had been insisting since last season.

His desire to leave the squad strengthened after an argument with head coach Pido Jarencio during a quarterfinals game against Magnolia Hotshots.

KaTropa and GlobalPort agreed to send Romeo and Bradwyn Guinto to TNT in exchange for former top overall pick Moala Tautuaa and reserve guard Al Francis Tamsi.

But this was shot down by the PBA trade committee, which comprises league legal counsel Melvin Mendoza, technical director Eric Castro, operations and business development manager Roscelle Teotico, and technical and operations assistant Mauro Bengua.

It was not the first time the PBA turned down a lopsided trade deal by KaTropa.

The league rejected four times its trade deal with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters for Celedonio Trollano before this was approved last week when TNT agreed to part ways with Norbert Torres./PN
