MANILA – After three years of partnership that produced silverwares, Kaya Futbol Club –Iloilo have parted ways with head coach Noel Marcaida.
He confirmed his departure from the Iloilo City- based football club in a lengthy Facebook post last Thursday evening after his contract was not renewed after expiring last December 31, 2019.
“It is unfortunate that we now have to part ways, but Kaya FC Iloilo will always occupy a special place in my heart. I will now pursue new paths, but would welcome an opportunity to work with the club again at some point in the future.” Marcaida said.
“I would like to thank Kaya FC Iloilo for the opportunities accorded to me these last 3 years, during which I have learned a great deal and grown as a person and coach,” he added.
Marcaida helmed Kaya to a championship in the 2018 PFL Copa Paulino Alcantara Cup and two runners-up finishes behind Ceres-Negros F.C. in last year’s PFL season that led to their two consecutive appearances in the Asian Football Confederation Cup – a tournament played primarily between clubs from nations that did not receive direct qualifying slots in the top-tier AFC Champions League, based on the AFC Club Competitions Ranking.
“I look back proudly on our Copa Paulino Alcantara triumph in 2018, our second place finish in the following year, and the PFL runner-up positions we secured in both 2018 and 2019,” Marcaida said.
“My heartfelt gratitude also goes to the 12th man – the fans and supporters of Kaya. Your ardent and steadfast support made my job a very meaningful one and our matches thrilling and memorable affairs,” he thankfully added./PN
