KAYA Futbol Club bolstered its lineup ahead of its transfer to Iloilo province for the 2018 Philippines Football League by signing six players led by Negros Occidental native Camelo Tacusalme.

Tacusalme, who also played for Ceres Negros FC before, said his move to Kaya is a dream come true as he long wanted to play for the team and head coach Noel Marcaida.

Sobrang saya na finally nasa Kaya na ako. Ilang years ko nang pinangarap na makalaro dito,” Tacusalme said in an interview on Kaya’s website. “Kasi, professionally, maganda dito. Same ang pagtrato sa lahat ng players.”

“I will not have a hard time adjusting kasi sila Jovin (Bedic), si Baking (Jalsor Soriano), Panhay (Jayson), si Janrick (Soriano), sila iyong mga nakasama ko dati, starting college days sa Bacolod,” added the Talisaynon.

According to Marcaida, the former Philippine Azkals player is a great addition to his team. He said he wanted to bring Tacusalme along in the last season but JPV Marikina FC did not release the Negrense.

“Even before the 2017 season, we were already asking [to sign him], we wanted Camelo to be a part of Kaya,” said Marcaida. “He’s the type of player who can really help our defensive line in terms of speed and balancing the defensive line.”

Aside from Tacusalme, Kaya added Philippine Azkals mainstay Nathaniel Villanueva, Connor Tacagni, Arnel Amita, and Michael and Audie Menzi.

“Although we’ve lost some key players from last year, I think the additions are really exciting,” said Kaya team manager Chris Greatwich. “I’m just excited for those players to come in day in and day out, and compete for a place in the starting 11.”/PN
