KAYA Iloilo hopes to continue its dominance over JPV Marikina when the two squads clash in the 2018 Philippines Football League on Wednesday at the Iloilo Sports Complex in Iloilo City.

Game time is 3 p.m. Kaya is currently on second place with 26 points on eight wins, two draws and four losses while JPV is on fourth place with 13 points on four wins, one draw and 10 losses.

This will be the third meeting between the two squads. Kaya won their first two matches – 1-0 on April 7 on an Eric Giganto goal and 4-1 on May 5 on a hat trick by Jordan Mintah and another goal by Alfred Osei.

That they were ahead in the standings did not stop Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida from being wary of the Marikina team, which overcame defending champion Ceres Negros 2-0 in an upset on Saturday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

“After playing two consecutive away games, we are happy to be back in Iloilo,” Marcaida said. “We look forward to defending our home floor and also scoring another win against JPV.”

“But we know that it will be a tough game with JPV coming from a big win,” he added. “It will be a game of consistency. Whoever is consistent has a bigger chance of winning.”

Marcaida also said they will miss the services of Mintah, who had recently undergone surgery, and Philippine Azkals mainstay Miguel Tanton, who was suspended for a yellow card incursion in their last game against Davao Aguilas.

Leading Kaya are Osei, Giganto, Masanari Omura, Jovin Bedic, Jalsor and Janrick Soriano, Camelo Tacusalme, Ref Cuaresma, and Kenshiro Daniels./PN
