MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo vented its ire on the visiting Lao Toyota FC of Laos with a 5-1 drubbing in the group stage of the 2019 AFC Cup yesterday at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Jordan Mintah completed a hat trick while Connor Tacagni and Yannick Tuazon added a conversion each for the Ilonggos, which bounced back from a 2-1 loss to PSS Makassar of Indonesia two weeks ago.

Kaya-Iloilo was aggressive early with Mintah taking the opening as he poked the ball past the legs of the defender. It was followed by a header by Tacagni to increase the lead to 2-0 at the half.

Mintah netted his second goal of the match at the 69th minute from a pass by Tyler Matas to up Kaya-Iloilo’s edge to 3-0.

Lao Toyota was able to pull one back at the 70th minute courtesy of Kazou Homma.

Kaya Iloilo, however, went on with its goal spree with Tuazon netting one from a pass by Mintah before Mintah completed his three goal romp at the 90th minute.

With the victory, Kaya Iloilo stayed alive in contention with eight points on two wins, two draws and a loss, while Lao Toyota remained with one point on one draw and four losses.

Kaya Iloilo will next travel to Singapore to take on reigning AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal champions Home United in a must-win match to stay in the hunt for the second round on May 14./PN
