MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo aims to get back on the winning track in the 2019 Philippines Football League when it faces Stallion-Laguna FC today at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan, Laguna.

Heading into the match slated at 3:30 p.m., the Ilonggos remain at joint first with 16 points on five wins, one draw and a loss while Stallion-Laguna is at third spot with 11 markers.

Kaya-Iloilo are on a slump recently. It was held to a scoreless draw by Green Archers United FC Saturday last week followed by a 2-1 defeat to regional rival Ceres-Negros FC just this Wednesday.

Stallion-Laguna, on the other hand, is on a roll tallying one lopsided win over another, with the last a 5-1 domination of Global-Makati FC with shots from Ilonggo Jan Jesus Melliza, Mouhamed Sy, Darwin Regala, Nathaniel Alquiros, and Fitch Arboleda.

This will be the second meeting of the two squads. Their first encounter on May 29 was won by Kaya-Iloilo, 2-0, where Ilonggo Jovin Bedic and Jordan Mintah drained a goal each.

Over at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite, Ceres-Negros aims to keep its hold of the top spot as it battles lowly Philippine Air Force FC at 3:30 p.m.

The Busmen is on the first spot with 16 points while the Air Force is at seventh with one point.

Despite the team’s internal issues, the Busmen remained upbeat after scoring a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against regional rival Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo behind conversions by Stephan Schrock.

The Air Force, on the other hand, continued its slump as it came from 1-3 defeat in the hands of fellow cellar-dweller Mendiola FC 1991 last Sunday at the Biñan Football Stadium./PN
