MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo aim to get back on the winning track as they face Mendiola 1991 FC in the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite at 9 a.m. today.
The Iloilo City-based football club is currently at second place in the standings with seven points built on two wins and a draw, behind defending champion United City Football Club, which has nine points on three wins.
Kaya-Iloilo were halted from tying with United City FC on top after settling for a 1-1 draw with Stallion-Laguna FC last Tuesday following an exchange of goals from Ilonggos Jovin Bedic and Jan Jesus Melliza.
“It was our turn to be outplayed in that game,” rued Kaya-Iloilo head coach Yu Hoshide. “Stallion-Laguna worked harder in the second half, especially on their counterattacks.”
Kaya-Iloilo had a golden opportunity to recover as they will face Mendiola FC that has yet to taste victory in two matches. Their previous match was a 0-2 loss to Azkals Developmental Team.
“Our inactivity the past few months had taken a toll on us. Our opponent just ran out. We were very tired,” said Mendiola 1991 head coach Dan Padernal.
In the other fixtures, Maharlika Manila FC will tangle with Azkals Developmental Team at 4:30 p.m. while United City FC will face the dangerous Stallion-Laguna at 8 a.m./PN
