Manila – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo unveiled two of its new foreign singings and a new head coach ahead of its 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup campaign next week.

The Iloilo City-based football club announced on its social media accounts on Wednesday the signing of Japanese winger Daizo Horikoshi and Carlyle Mitchell of Trinidad and Tobago.

The 23-year-old Horikoshi previously suited up for Albirex Niigata Football Club in Singapore before moving to Kaya-Iloilo. He immediately made impact for the Ilonggos after scoring two goals in a 5-0 win over Stallion-Laguna F.C. in a tune-up on Feb.4.

The 32-year-old Trinidad and Tobago International Mitchell, on the other hand, has plenty of experience playing overseas with his last at St. Ann’s Rangers Football Club in his hometown before agreeing to a deal with Kaya-Iloilo.

The entry of Horikoshi and Mitchell pretty much made up for the departure of several veteran players during the offseason in Jordan Mintah, Alfred Osei, Yannick Tuason, Ref Cuaresma, Darryl Roberts and Arnie Pasinabo.

Meanwhile, Kaya-Iloilo’s new head coach, Cebuano Oliver “Bingbing” Colina, will take over the spot of former mentor Noel Marcaida.

Colina was the mentor of the Cebu City-based Leylam F.C., which he steered to three Aboitiz Football Cup Men’s Open championships. He also coached the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles to secondary boys’ football titles in Cesafi, Mandaue City Meet and Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA)./PN
