KBP denies hand in letter from ‘reporter’

BACOLOD City — The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) denied having anything to do with the letter to Philippine National Police Director General Allan Purisima that said some policemen here were receiving money from drug lords.

The letter was from a “Concerned Media Reporter of Bacolod/Mamamayan Kontra Droga.”

If the sender was from KBP, the letter would have passed through the organization’s officials, said Bacolod Chapter chair Joppy Ploteria.

Ploteria had briefed the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 team investigating the policemen identified in the letter.

The team last week went to the Negros Press Club office to inquire, but the club also denied any hand in the letter.

Composing the probe team were Inspector IV Napoleon Arostique, Atty. Jorelyne Gasataya and Inspector II Felix Leo Loriega.

One of the cops identified in the letter was Supt. Jefferson Descallar, the relieved deputy director for administration and Special Operations Group (SOG) head of the Bacolod City Police Office.

The others were SOG personnel SPO4 Hobart Bautista and PO1 Dennis Finch.

Descallar believes he was a victim of a “demolition job.”

On the other hand, Senior Supt. Larry Decena, police city director, believes the accusation against Descallar was “fabricated.”/PN
