MANILA – Alleged Eastern Visayas drug lord and son of the recently slain Albuera, Leyte mayor, Kerwin Espinosa will be naming all those linked to his illegal drug trade business, including politicians.
Espinosa, along with three officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP), arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 from Abu Dhabi early morning Friday via Philippine Airlines PR 657.
He is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center, Camp Crame in Quezon City.
Espinosa and his father, former Albuera mayor Rolando Espinosa, who was killed in a supposed shootout inside the Baybay City Provincial Jail in Leyte, were publicly identified by President Rodrigo Duterte as personalities allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
The suspected drug lord said he is willing to cooperate with the Duterte government and name others involved in drugs.
According to him, he decided to go back to the country because “nakita ko ‘yung kanilang (police) pag-safety nila sa akin mula sa pagkuha sa akin sa Abu Dhabi hanggang dito sa Crame. Na-feel ko ‘yung safety ko.”
Espinosa said he has not used drugs for 12 years.
Meanwhile, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, said the suspect will be invited to the hearing on extrajudicial killings set either on Wednesday or Thursday next week.
“Initially I had a talk with Sandra Cam, she was in Abu Dhabi. May pangalan na binanggit nana-validate,” Lacson said.
Cam, president of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines, was instrumental in the capture of Espinosa,
Asked if Espinosa tagged a senator in the illegal drug trade, Lacson said: “Mas maganda siya (Espinosa) na magsabi.”/PN
