Kevin Piamonte’s film “SOLO” is the first Ilonggo film that wins at the FAMAS Awards. Solo was the winner for the Short Film category.

“Congratulations to Kevin Piamonte and Team SOLO for the first Ilonggo FAMAS Awards winner in the Short Film category. You have paved the way for more dreamers and regional filmmakers to dream big and make sure that their next works are Pang-FAMAS,” a congratulatory message from FAMAS.

FAMAS or Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards are the annual honors given by the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), an organization composed of prize-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in the Philippine cinema for a calendar year.

Members of the academy including avid movie viewers, fans, or enthusiasts will cast their votes on who should win the statuettes on different categories they were nominated. Established in 1952, it is the oldest existing film industry award-giving body in the Philippines and one of the oldest in Asia.

SOLO is written and directed by Kevin Pison Piamonte and stars Peter Deocos and Marveen Ely Lozano. It is produced by ERK Film Production and the University of the Philippines Visayas through its Creative Work Grant.

FAMAS-winning short film “SOLO” deserves all the glory for its undeniable magnificence.

“Kevin Pison Piamonte’s “Solo” is a heartbreaking elegy that honors the many loves we have lost to COVID 19. Its soul is in its unforgettable love story. Its tragedy moves past its unsaid goodbyes and leads us to the realization that in the end, we will lose all human and worldly connections and what remains is the solitude of the self,” a congratulatory message posted of one of Kevin Piamonte friends. /PN
