MANILA – Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings plans to finish off San Miguel Beermen’s reign in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Kings veteran guard LA Tenorio said they aim to unseat the defending champion in Game 6 on Wednesday night. Giving Beerman a chance to force a do-or-die Game 7 will be dangerous, he said.
“On Wednesday, for sure, do-or-die game again for us. Iyon dapat iyong mindset namin against San Miguel. We can’t give them the chance na maglaro for Game 7. Mahirap,” Tenorio said.
“Mahirap talaga kalabanin San Miguel. Iyon lang talaga lagi namin sinasabi, mahirap. If we have a chance to finish [the Finals] on Wednesday, we have to do it,” the former Gilas Pilipinas guard added.
Head coach Tim Cone reminded Kings that, just like them, Beermen also developed a “never say die” attitude, said Tenorio.
“We’ll be ready. Iyong team naman namin built din sa ganitong klaseng game,” the Kings guard said.
Kings moved a game closer to clinching the Commissioner’s Cup title with a come-from-behind 87-83 win over Beermen in Game 5 on Sunday night behind the endgame heroics of Scottie Thompson.
“Tulad ng sabi ni Kuya LA, we will try to end the series in Game 6,” said Thompson, who finished the match with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
“Personally, I will keep working hard. No expectations na magiging ganoon uli ang laro ko but I will try my best,” he added./PN
