BACOLOD City – That the city is safe is the reason that Koreans prefer to study English here, according to Consul General Oh Sung-yong of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu.
Sung-yong told reporters this after paying Mayor Evelio Leonardia a courtesy call yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Sung-yong also visited Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. at the provincial capitol yesterday.
Sung-yong said the consulate is making sure that Koreans are safe while studying abroad. He added that “security is a priority of the consulate.”
For his part, Leonardia said he was glad that Sung-yong visited Bacolod. The mayor and Sung-yong talked about the city hosting an international convention in November 2019.
The convention is under the International Mask Arts and Culture Organization, which is composed of 103 nations including Philippines and Korea./PN
