KRIS Aquino on Tuesday remembered her slain father, former senator Ninoy Aquino, on his 35th death anniversary, through photos showing his resemblance with her son, Bimby.
Aquino, 47, shared the collage on Instagram, saying a friend who noticed the likeness had sent her the restored picture of her father.
The “I Love You, Hater” actress put the photos of Ninoy and Bimby side by side, and showed the result to her only son with ex-husband James Yap.
“Mama, Lolo and I have the same smile, same hair, and same chin,” Aquino quoted Bimby as reacting. “I said, ‘Actually, you have the same glow in your eyes.’”
Tuesday marked the assassination of the Aquino patriarch at the Manila International Airport in 1983, which eventually led to the 1986 People Power revolution that ousted the Marcos dictatorship. The late president was succeeded by Ninoy’s widow and Kris’s mother, Cory Aquino.
Sharing a collage of photos showing Ninoy carrying her as a baby, Aquino wrote in another Instagram post: “These two pictures have deep significance for me – they were my dad’s last senatorial campaign calendar photos before Martial Law was declared… Even as a baby, I knew how to be ‘cute” for the camera.’
“35 years after his assassination: Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng mga Filipino na patuloy binibigyan ng respeto at pagmamahal ang sakripisyong inalay ni Ninoy Aquino para sa demokrasya ng ating mahal na bayan.” (ABS-CBN News)
