KYLINE Alcantara and Miguel Tanfelix could hardly believe that they made the cut to the first Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA).
Attending the red-carpet event at Singapore’s Capitol Theatre, last night, Dec. 7, was even more memorable because it was their first time to receive an international nomination.
The newly-established AAA recognized exemplary works and artists from Australia and New Zealand, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam on its inaugural year.
Kyline and Miguel were nominated as Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor, respectively, for their portrayal in GMA’s hit prime-time series Kambal, Karibal.
The 16-year-old actress said, “Nakakagulat talaga. Hindi ko in-expect na even sa international, mare-recognize yung role ko, which is si Cheska…Sobrang saya ko na ni-recognize nila lahat ng pinagpuyatan ko, mga pinaghirapan ko, lahat ng mga pinanood ko na series just to get the perfect combination for Cheska.”
Miguel was ecstatic as well. “The last time I was nominated for an acting award was when I did the series Niño in 2014.”
“Every show that I do, sobrang passionate ako. That’s why siguro napansin nila thankfully yung ginawa ko po. Napamahal din sa akin yung character ko run bilang Diego.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) did separate interviews with Kyline and Miguel before the program for AAA started.
Other Kapuso country winners included Gabby Eigenmann and Michael V, who said that the recognition from the award-giving body based in Singapore was a big boost for Philippine entertainment industry.
“Nakaka-proud lalo na at nire-represent natin, hindi lang isang network kundi isang buong bansa ang nire-represent natin. For me, it’s really something. Lalo na kapag mga Asian TV Awards, pag na-nominate ka, it’s really an honor.”
Michael was the Philippine winner in the Best Comedy Performance category for his lead role in GMA’s weekly sitcom Pepito Manaloto.
Though he already won a number of awards as a comedian in the Asian scene, Michael downplayed it when told that he’s known for his world-class talent. (Pep.ph)
