La Carlota’s city hall on 1-week lockdown

BACOLOD City – The La Carlota City Hall Complex in Negros Occidental has been placed under a one-week lockdown. An executive assistant of Mayor Rex Jalando-on got infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The mayor’s Executive Order No. 53 ordered the closure of the Main City Hall, City Mayor’s Office Building, Sangguniang Panlungsod Building, Negosyo Center, City Assessor’s Office, CMO Annex, COMELEC, and Post Office from Aug. 10-16.

Jalando-on also called for the immediate swabbing of all personnel in his office. He and 14 others came into contact with the employee who tested positive for the viral illness. 

The executive assistant – resident of this city – was swabbed on Aug. 6 and got her result for COVID-19 the next day.

The city hall was disinfected on Aug. 9 and contact tracing was launched.
Meanwhile, the City Administrator’s Office assigned a skeletal workforce to attend to the immediate concerns of residents, especially the locally stranded individuals and repatriated overseas Filipinos./PN
