La Paz burglars strike

ILOILO City – Thieves in La Paz district took advantage of darkness to divest sleeping residents.

Forty-four-year-old Juliet Zaragoza of Brgy. Sinikway, Lapuz discovered the robbery at her house only after waking up around 3 a.m. of July 7.

Her black shoulder bag containing P56,000 was gone.

Her graduation and wedding rings, pairs of earrings and a cellphone were also missing.

Zaragoza estimated the thieves’ loot to have reached P54,000.

She also told the La Paz police that she lost several identification cards from the Professional Regulation Commission and Association of Nursing Administration, and her automated teller machine cards.

The 56-year-old Ma. Fe Ramsey of Puerto Real Subdivision was also a victim of burglary.

Around 3 a.m. of July 8 while on her way to the toilet, she spotted a man inside her house, she told the police.

The thief quickly fled, Ramsey said, bringing along with him a digital camera, four pairs of fashion silver earrings, two silver wristwatches and a laptop.

According to Ramsey, the loot reached P21,400.

Police investigators recovered from Ramsey’s house a pair of brown slippers believed to belong to the thief.

Initial investigation showed the thief gaining entry to the house through an unlocked door at the second floor./PN
