ILOILO City – Faith Audrey Japitana failed to come home in Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district in the evening of June 2.
Around 6:30 in the morning the following day, her aunt “Inday” Gubatanga found her dead near their house.
The 17-year-old Japitana committed suicide by hanging herself from an Indian Mango tree, a police report showed.
Her mother scolded the Grade 10 student for failing to get a younger sibling enrolled in school on Friday morning, police said.
Her parents were surprised to learn that Japitana committed suicide, said the police./PN
