ILOILO City – In the lockup cell of the La Paz district police station was where a resident was detained after stabbing her live-in partner.

The 26-year-old Regilyn Ramos of Block 5, Ledesco Village, Barangay Tabuc Suba, La Paz faces a frustrated homicide charge, a police report showed.

Ramos and live-in partner Edmund Tumanday had a fight in their house in Ledesco Village before the latter stabbed the former on the left chest using a pair of scissors, the police report stated.

Ramos told reporters at the police station on Tuesday that Tumanday hit her first.

She said Tumanday arrived home drunk at around 11 p.m. on Monday and struck and dragged her. She grabbed the pair of scissors and retaliated, she added.

Their neighbors brought Tumanday to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro for treatment.

Ramos was placed under citizen arrest by two tanods (watchmen) from the nearby Barangay San Pedro, Jaro district.

Tanods Jaiger Nuevo and Ronnie Labanon in turn remitted Ramos to the La Paz police station./PN
