ROXAS City – Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr. of Mambusao, Capiz will join the gubernatorial race in the upcoming 2019 elections.

Labao disclosed this during an interview with Panay News on Friday.

Labao has earlier criticized Gov. Antonio del Rosario over the “mismanagement” of the Mambusao District Hospital, which is under the provincial government.

Labao said it is “much better” if the management of the hospital will be given to the municipal government.

He also claimed that del Rosario is “making business” out of the district hospital.

“Siya (del Rosario) ang wala ka intindi amo nga indi sya gusto nga ihatag sa LGU Mambusao ang pagpadalagan sang ospital kay naga-kita sya,” said Labao.

He added that the municipal government has enough resources to run the district hospital.

“Diin ka kakita sang ospital nga wala bulong kag puro politika? Ultimo ambulansya may bayad,” Labao stressed.

The mayor also said patients with his referral are rejected by the hospital management.

“Kon may ginarekomendar ako nga pasyente, wala gina entertinaha kay dapat maagi kay Jose Alba,” he said.

Alba – a Liberal Party member – lost to Labao in the mayoralty bid in 2016.

Labao stressed that nobody must be denied of hospital services because of their political affiliations.

For his part, del Rosario said, “Basi gusto niya magpasikat. Kon gusto ni Labao, hatag na lang siya financial assistance sa hospital.”/PN
