SAN JOSE, Antique – Labor concerns among employees and employers can now be addressed efficiently as a satellite desk of the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) was opened in this capital town.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial director Melisa Navarra said labor cases brought to their office that cannot be settled within 30 days through the single entry approach or meditation will be referred to NLRC’s desk.
“Clients will no longer submit these disputes to the regional office of NLRC but to the satellite desk here in San Jose every send Tuesday of the month,” added Navarra.
DOLE Arbitration Associate focal person Jocelyn Ochon manages the NLRC satellite desk, which can be found at the 2nd floor of DOLE-Antique field office along Cerdeña Street.
About three to five cases per week are regularly submitted to the DOLE-Antique field office, said Navarra.
Among the labor concerns are request for separation pay, reinstatement of employee and illegal dismissal.
NLRC, a quasi-judicial agency attached to DOLE, is mandated to adjudicate labor and management disputes involving both local and overseas workers through compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution. (With a report from PIA/PN)
