ILOILO City – A 44-year-old laborer charged with homicide has been arrested at the Iloilo International Airport on Tuesday.
Gabriel Arroyo of Barangay Monica-Blumentritt, City Proper was a suspect in the death of Gilbert Gohel, 31, of Barangay Kasing-kasing, Molo district in February 2011.
Officers from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Iloilo served the suspect a warrant of arrest at around 7:30 a.m.
Arroyo has just disembarked an airplane from Manila at the time, said Senior Police Officer 3 Job Lujan, the lead arresting officer.
Gohel was killed during a grapple for a firearm in Barangay Zamora-Melliza, City Proper, Lujan said. “Arroyo and Gohel got into a fight. They were at odds.”
Presiding Judge Juana Judita Panigbatan-Nafarrete of the Regional Trial Court 6 Branch 38 (Iloilo City) issued the warrant on Nov. 7. The judge set the bail bond at P120,000. The CIDG-Iloilo took Arroyo in custody.
Others involved in the arrest were Superintendent Anthony Gantang, Senior Police Officer 2 Alberto Sombilon, Police Officers 2 Ewrin Calubayan and Kervin Espejo, Police Officers 1 Eljohn Dapitan, Avelio Viloria and Ilene Barrios, and officers from the Highway Patrol Team – Iloilo and Regional Maritime Unit 6./PN
