
NEGROS Occidental – Police arrested a 33-year-old laborer for possession of unlicensed firearm in Barangay San Antonio, Himamaylan City in this province.
Armed with a search warrant, officers of the Himamaylan City Police Station swooped down on the house of the suspect identified as alias “Ven,” around 2:41 p.m. on Friday, December 20.
Recovered were one caliber .38 revolver and five live cartridges for the said firearm.
Western Visayas top cop, Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, lauded the intensified effort of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office against loose firearms.
“Our unit commanders were given orders to intensify their campaign against loose firearms. We do not want that these firearms be used in any criminal activity. Those possessing the same without legal document will expect that law enforcement operations will be undertaken against them,” Wanky said.
He further encouraged others to deposit the unlicensed firearm/s in their possession to the nearest police station.
Ven was detained at the Himamaylan City Police Station. He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
