ILOILO City – A village watchman and a laborer were killed in a gun duel triggered by old grudge in Barangay Capul-an, Mina, Iloilo, police said.
Barangay tanod Michael Patriarca and Barangay Cabangaan, Badiangan, Iloilo resident April Ilisian both died of multiple gunshot wounds on the body.
The incident happened at around 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 5, according to Mina police chief Inspector Felice Dioso.
Patriarca was on board a motorcycle with a fellow tanod when they saw Ilisian standing along the road near the former’s house.
Patriarca alighted from the vehicle and talked to Ilisian. A few minutes later, he started shooting Ilisian using a .45-caliber pistol.
Ilisian returned fire with a .9mm pistol, police said.
The old grudge between the two began last year, said Dioso, adding that Ilisian had been tagged in strafing the house of Patriarca.
Ilisian denied this but Patriarca filed a case against him.
“We believe that old grudge was the motive why they shot each other. The case was already solved,” Dioso said./PN
