Laborers lose cash, phones to ‘thieves’

ILOILO City – The Arevalo district police are running after two persons who allegedly stole the money and cellphones of two laborers in C1 Road, Barangay Sooc on Wednesday, June 19.

Closed-circuit television camera footage showed two masked men entering the victims’ barracks.

“It was caught on camera nga ang duha ka male personalities naga lagaw-lagaw didto sa ila nga hollow blocks business then nagsulod sa barracks. According sa tag-iya, indi niya ma-certain kung ano ang tuyo sang duha — kun nangawat gid man or nag-trespass lang,” said Police Chief Master Sergeant Mark Olano.

He added: “Ang duha [victims], wala sila personally nagkadto di sa station para i-report nga nadulaan sila. Ang nag-report was ang tag-iya mismo sang business nga si Julieta Lauduaso.”

One of the victims, Pablito Alsagar, in an interview with Bombo Radyo Iloilo, said he lost P7,000 in cash which he would supposedly use to buy a piglet. A native of Negros Occidental, he has been working in the city for two months./PN
