MANILA – Ivy Lacsina displayed her much-improved defense as F2 Logistics Cargo Movers came away with a 25-20, 25-14, 25-16 victory over Nxled Chameleons in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The former National University Lady Bulldogs star tallied four blocks en route to a team-high 19 points as the Cargo Movers bounced back from a shock loss to the Akari Power Chargers last week for a 1-1 slate, tying their victims.
“I’ve been working extra hard in defense,” said Lacsina, who took over the spot of injured Kim Kianna Dy in the starting six. “I just wanted to give what the team needs, so I always play all-out.”
Mary Joy Baron also came away with four blocks on her way to a 10-point output, while Jolina dela Cruz had a double-double of 11 points and posted 11 excellent receptions for F2.
Meanwhile, Akari Power Chargers displayed great determination as they secured a 25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20 upset against previously undefeated Chery Tiggo Crossovers. Both teams now have a 2-1 win-loss slate.
The Power Chargers were down by as much as five in the first set, by three in the third, and by four in the fourth set, but they managed to claw their way back and win in each of those sets.
According to Dindin Santiago-Manabat, the Power Chargers are determined to have a better showing in the season-ending conference because they are seriously studying each of their opponents.
“Nagkaroon kami ng pagkakataon na pag-aralan sila (Crossovers players) one by one. And mas nanaig lang siguro ‘yung gusto namin manalo,” said Santiago-Manabat, who tallied 21 points on 16 attacks, four blocks, and a service ace.
Savannah Davison had another solid performance as PLDT High Speed Hitters (2-1) secured its second straight victory by taking down Farm Fresh Foxies (0-2), 25-17, 25-17, 25-20.
