BACOLOD City – Top officials from two local political groups in Negros Occidental have announced a unified ticket for the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial race next year.
Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson of Love Negros and 4th District representative Jeffrey Ferrer of United Negros Alliance (UNEGA) will be running mates – the former for governor and the latter for vice governor.
This was confirmed by Love Negros’ 3rd District representative Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and UNEGA’s Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday at the Nature’s Hotel and Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Benitez and Marañon also announced their “retirement” from politics, with both saying that they made a “huge sacrifice” for the merger’s realization.
Marañon stressed that the merger is for the sake of “unity and progress” in Negros Occidental.
He added that UNEGA and Love Negros members must also “do their share” for the province./PN
