ILOILO City – He was found dead hanging in their house, police said.
The 18-year-old Mark Wendel Ong of Barangay Carmelo, Banate, Iloilo was believed to have committed suicide.
Ong was found by his parents on the third floor of their house hanging with a belt and nylon rope tied around his neck around 7 a.m. on April 8, a police report showed.
He was rushed to the Banate Rural Health Center where attending physician Dr. Venus Bañas pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
Ong – a Grade 10 student – was last seen alive on April 7, said Banate police chief Captain Genisis Roque.
According to his parents, Ong had been down for four days after he and his girlfriend broke up.
“The family and his relatives are convinced that the victim had committed suicide. Maybe he was so depressed,” said Roque.
Police have yet to rule out foul play in Ong’s death./PN
