Laid-off capitol employees to get benefits

BACOLOD City — Provincial government employees holding positions to be abolished under the capitol reorganization will be given benefits, Provincial Administrator Enrique Pinongan yesterday said.

The benefits include terminal pay and a one month worth of salary for every year of service, Pinongan said.

Those opting for an early retirement will get the benefits following Government Service Insurance System rules, he said.

All these will be included in a supplemental budget to be approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Pinongan said.

Revamp expenses that will not be included in the supplemental budget will be incorporated in the 2015 budget, he said.

“The Human Resources Office is still computing how much the total benefits of all affected employees are,” he said.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has already created the reorganization implementation committee headed by Pinongan.

Starting this week, the committee will send out notices on the abolition of posts and the filling of newly created positions.

Under the reorganization, 106 will be abolished while 372 new positions will be created.

Capitol employees in positions set to be abolished will be prioritized in the hiring for new positions. After them, job hires and “outsiders” will be considered, said Pinongan./PN
