ILOILO City – An employee of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lambunao, Iloilo was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation on Sunday, April 20, in the town’s Barangay Gines.

The 35-year-old alias “Jose”, a resident of Barangay Daan Banwa, was apprehended at 5:35 p.m.

The tracker team of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS) recovered a total of 55 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P374,000.

He was included in the top drug list in the province, according to Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Razalan further said that this operation was initiated following credible reports from concerned citizens regarding his illegal drug activities in the towns of Lambunao, Janiuay, and Calinog.

Jose is currently on parole for a previous conviction of frustrated murder. He got his supply of illegal drugs from Iloilo City, police said.

“This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to combat illegal drugs and ensure the safety of our beloved Iloilo,” Razalan said. “We are grateful for the cooperation of the community, which played a vital role in bringing this individual to justice.”

The suspect was detained at the Lambunao MPS and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
