Land conflict ‘motive in San Carlos shooting’

BACOLOD City – Land conflict was believed to be the motive in a shooting incident that led to the death of a farmer in Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas Jr., chief of the San Carlos City police, identified the casualty as 26-year-old resident Rizaldy Abela.

Abela was attending to his goats in a farm near his house around 12 p.m. on Jan. 22 when five suspects fired at him, a police report showed.

Abela sustained gunshot wounds on the body and died, the report added.

Police said they already identified three of the five suspects – 24-year-old Gaudencio Palabrica and a certain “Tata Palabrica” and “Elmer Ogatis.”

It was not immediately clear if the suspects were already arrested./PN
