BACOLOD City – Land dispute was one of the angles being pursued by policemen investigating the shooting of a man in Sitio Vergara, Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso, Negros Occidental Thursday last week.
The 49-year-old Elvis Vargas Bocaling was driving his motorcycle when shot by two still unidentified suspects around 3:30 a.m. on March 23.
Chief Inspector Roberto Mansueto, Toboso police chief, said Bocaling died of multiple gunshot wounds.
From the empty bullet shells that policemen gathered at the crime scene, the gunmen used a .45 handgun on the victim.
Mansueto said the shooting may be linked to a 2010 incident involving Bocaling due to a land dispute.
The Toboso police have several suspects already but Mansueto declined to name them so as not to jeopardize ongoing police operations./PN
