BACOLOD City – A sanitary landfill caretaker in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental was a suspect in the fatal shooting of a laborer.
Police were still hunting for Roland Casilao as of this writing.
Casilao was accused of shooting the 27-year-old Francis Helario Evangelio of Barangay Ma-ao. He fled after the incident at around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, witnesses told the police.
Evangelio sustained a gunshot wound on the chest, said Senior Inspector Reynaldo Severino, deputy Bago City police chief.
He was taken to the Bago City Hospital but Dr. Arian Gel Tugonon, the attending physician, pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
Investigators learned from witnesses that Evangelio was walking with friends Ruden Auditor, Gabriel Auditor and Ambo Enteria when the suspect confronted them, saying, “Ano gusto niyo, tiruhay (Let’s just shoot each other, is that what you want)?”
Casilao used a handgun, investigation showed.
From what the investigators have gathered, the suspect was angered that the victims’ friends were fishing at a creek within the premises of the sanitary landfill he was tending to./PN
