ILOILO – A landslide recurred in the town of San Joaquin on Sunday morning, Aug. 27, causing the San Joaquin, Iloilo (Tiolas-Quianan) – Hamtic, Antique Road, to become temporarily impassable.

Travelers from Antique to Iloilo, and vice versa, were advised by the San Joaquin Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office to take the Anini-y, Antique – San Joaquin coastal road.

“Gina abisohan man ang tanan nga mga byaheros nga mahimo mag-detour sa Tiolas-Anini-y-Dao road vice-versa (coastal road),” the advisory read.

However, the coastal road can only accommodate vehicles weighing 10 tons and below due to existing damages to two bridges in San Joaquin town.

The San Joaquin MDRRMO closely coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways to immediately clear debris.

As of the 11:20 a.m. advisory of the San Joaquin municipal police, the road was already passable to all types of vehicles.

On July 31, a landslide also hit the area and closed the road. Motorists were advised to be vigilant when passing by.

“Gina-abisohan ang tanan nga magalabay nga may pag-aligmat kag maghalong sa mga bato nga posible nga nagahulog,” the San Joaquin DRRM Council warned./PN
