MANILA – Filipino mixed martial arts fighter Jenel Lausa hopes to return to winning ways in the Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC). He battles Iranian-Australian Ashkan Mokhtarian tonight in Singapore.
This will be the fourth fight of the Concepcion, Iloilo-native Lausa under the prestigious mixed martial arts promotions since being signed up last year.
Lausa currently has 1-2 record in three UFC matches.
He debuted with UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Chinese Yao Zhikui in Nov. 27, 2017 in Australia.
The Ilonggo lost in his next two matches against Russian Magomed Bibulatov and American Eric Shelton.
Lausa, also a professional boxer, said he is hopeful that with an early preparation for this fight, he will be able notch his second win in the prestigious MMA outfit.
“Every defeat we suffer in life is an opportunity for us to learn. I will use my two losses as a motivation to be a better fighter and a better representative of this country,” Lausa said
The 28-year-old Lausa, a former Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) titleholder, will be parading an impressive 7-4-0 win-loss-draw record.
The 32-year-old Mokhtarian, on the other hand, has a 13-3 MMA record. He has, however, dropped his last two matches against John Moraga via decision and Ryan Benoit via knockout./PN
