BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairperson of Barangay 6 was elected president of this capital city’s SK Federation.
She was 22-year-old Ayesha Joy Villaflor, an incoming third-year law student at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.
Villaflor ran unopposed during yesterday’s election at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Other elected SK Federation officers were Barangay 2’s Julia Marie Rile as vice president, Barangay Mansilingan’s Fercy Lyn Almaiz as secretary, Barangay Alijis’ Reymar Berja as treasurer, Barangay Singcang-Airport’s Danna Michaela Perma as auditor, Barangay Villamonte’s Shaine Jezreel Solidum as public relations officer, and Barangay Hadumanan’s Jericho Malagsic as sergeant at arms.
They all ran unopposed.
Villaflor took Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Certificate in International Studies at the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod. She graduated magna cum laude.
The SK is “not only for sports” but for “political awareness” as well, she stressed.
Villaflor vowed to be an inspiration to others.
“I do not have political inclination but I finished my studies with hard work and perseverance,” said Villaflor, the youngest among the three children of Vivian Villaflor and Antonio Villaflor Sr.
Her programs will focus on education, cultural development, health, and sports, she said.
All SK chairpersons in Bacolod attended the election, except for that of Barangay 17./PN
