Lax traffic rules for Bacolaodiat

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will temporarily halt implementing traffic rules during the Bacolaodiat Festival.

Jose Antonio Robello, deputy officer-in-charge of BTAO, said this is for the public to enjoy the activities in line with the Chinese New Year celebration starting today until Feb. 11.

“We are extending our utmost consideration, and it is a “free day.” Gusto ta man ang tanan mag-enjoy kag gina-balanse ta lang,” he claimed.

BTAO has imposed road closures, particularly along the Lacson Tourism Strip (North Capitol Road), due to several activities, such as the staging of events and the setting up of kiosks and tents.

The festival opening will kick off today at 4 p.m. with the Bacolaodiat Street Dance, followed by the grand opening of the Chopsticks Alley and the Imperial Village.

Strict implementation of the city’s traffic ordinances will resume by Monday, Feb. 12.

With this, the BTAO is asking the public to be respectful and avoid creating inconvenience for others.

But if they receive complaints against anybody causing traffic problems, they will impose the law, Robello warned.

On the other hand, the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Wednesday approved the accreditation of Metro Towing Services.

It means that their services in implementing City Ordinance No. 1035, Series of 2023, which establishes tow-away zones in various streets in Bacolod, will resume./PN
