MANILA – Dennise “Denden” Lazaro is set to return to the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) by way of Choco Mucho after almost four years of action in rival league Philippine Superliga (PSL).
The former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles defense specialist confirmed the development during an Off the Record interview with ABS-CBN Sports anchor Migs Bustos.
“I’m really happy to be back with my old teammates. I’m familiar with most of the people in the team,” said Lazaro.
Lazaro, 28, added that she has been training with Choco Mucho since February, but the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic halted the chemistry-building sessions.
At Choco Mucho, Lazaro will team up with fellow former Lady Eagles standouts Kat Tolentino, Madeleine Madayag and Isabel Beatriz “Bea” De Leon in venting ire to PVL oppents.
Lazaro – married to Bacolodnon guard LA Revilla of NorthPort Batang Pier – said that playing under head coach Oliver Almandro is one of things she is looking forward to in her transfer.
“I have never played under him, so it’s a new system to get used to,” the five-foot-five libero said.
During her stint in the PSL, Lazaro was able to end her personal four-year title drought by helping Petron Blaze Spikers win the 2019 Grand Prix. Her last championship prior to that was with powerhouse PLDT in Shakey’s V-League./PN
