ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ top cop warned nonperforming police personnel they would be sacked.

“Ayaw ko ng tamad na pulis. They should do something, especially sa illegal drugs. Hindi pwede sa akin ang lazy and ineffective na pulis,” said Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

On Friday, Francisco ordered newly installed Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Joeresty Coronica, to relieve all personnel of the Mandurriao police station and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) for their failure to arrest drug personalities in their area.

Kung ayaw nila magtrabaho, better mag-quit sila dahil marami pa ang gusto mag-pulis na tapat sa tungkulin,” said Francisco.

He issued the order following PRO-6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit’s (RDEU) successful anti-drug operation in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district on Jan. 25 where 32 drug suspects were arrested.

“Kahit mga police chiefs or unit commanders if tamad sila I have to relieve them. They will suffer the same fate like what I did to Mandurriao police personnel,” Francisco said.

He added: “Nakakuha ang RDEU ng droga at may nahuli. Bakit hindi nila nakuha ‘to?…I am not satisfied with their performance, including the commanders.”

The Mandurriao police station was led Police Captain Benjie Dicen while CDEU was under Police Captain Marlon Perez.

“Based sa review natin ng kanilang records, nag-fail sila ng expectations ko. Failure sila,” said Francisco.

Aside from apprehending 32 drug suspects at the Bakhaw drug den, the RDEU also confiscated suspected shabu valued at P918,000./PN
