ORIGINAL “Reflection” singer Lea Salonga only had encouraging words for fellow Kapamilya star Moira dela Torre after she was chosen to perform the iconic tune from Disney’s “Mulan” for a new generation of moviegoers.
Dela Torre was handpicked by Disney Philippines to record “Reflection” for the local release of the live-action remake of “Mulan.” The track has yet to be released.
Salonga provided the singing voice of the titular character in the 1998 animated classic, giving the Filipino artist the distinction of being the voice behind two Disney Princesses, the other being Jasmine of 1992’s “Aladdin.”
“I’m very happy and thrilled that Moira, the voice of this new generation of artists, has been handpicked to perform the song ‘Reflection’ for the Philippine market,” Salonga said in a statement.
On Instagram on Thursday, dela Torre shared a screenshot of Salonga’s statement, and thanked the Broadway diva for her support.
