SAN JOSE, Antique – Sen. Loren Legarda is ready to respond to questions regarding her transfer of residency to Pandan, Antique.
Vice Governor Edgar Denosta said this on Monday, adding that Legarda will run for congresswoman in the May 2019 polls.
Legarda filed her application to transfer her voter’s registration from Malabon City, Metro Manila to Pandan on Sept. 28.
Former Antique vice governor Robin Rubinos filed an opposition on the application at the Commission on Elections office in Pandan on Oct. 4.
“It is no longer a surprise for us,” said Denosta, who will be seeking reelection in 2019 together with Gov. Rhodora Cadiao in alliance with Legarda.
Rubinos said Legarda is not a qualified resident of Pandan.
“The domicile of origin of the applicant is Malabon City, which remains as her domicile as she has not fulfilled the requirements in acquiring a new domicile in Mag-aba, Pandan, Antique,” read part of Rubinos’ opposition letter.
Provincial Election Supervisor III Roberto Salazar said the Election Registration Board will review Legarda’s application and Rubinos’ opposition on Oct. 25. (With a report from PNA/PN)
