MANILA ā€“ University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses relied on the exploits of Charisa Lemoran to cruise to a 5-2 win over De La Salle University Lady Archers and bag a finals seat in the UAAP womenā€™s football.

Lemoran, a native of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, finished with two goals while Mary Joy Indac had one conversion and Shela Mae Cadag added two for Golden Tigresses.

ā€œLumabas iyong wino-work out naming finishing, iyong killer instinct ng mga bata na once we are in front of the goal, didiskartehan na namin,ā€ UST head coach Prescila Rubio said of the Saturday match at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

ā€œAng kinakailangan lang namin i-improve is iyong [pag-maintain ng] composure,ā€ Rubio added.

Golden Tigresses got aggressive early before taking a 1-0 lead on a Lemoran hit in the 21st minute. The lead was doubled early in the second half courtesy of a header by Indac.

Golden Tigresses managed to pull away further with Cadag firing back-to-back conversions in the 52nd and 79th minutes. Lady Archers was able to pull one back in the 86th minute behind Shannon Arthur.

But UST was quick to answer back with Lemoran nailing its fifth goal in the 92nd minute before La Salle got another one a minute later from Kyla Inquig.

The victory gave Golden Tigresses 16 points, allowing it to secure a position in the top two for the championship game.

Lady Archers got 12 points and will need two draws at the minimum in its next two games to return to the finals./PN
